C+C Brewing Factory is back in business and once again purveying fine ales and whimsy…
C+C Brewing Factory: Barely Barleywine ‘09 is bottled!
It has a strong hop aroma, a dark amber almost orange color, and a wonderful maple-y sweetness to offset all the hops. I’ve got a good feeling about this one. If only the hydrometer hadn’t broken I’d be able to better estimate the ABV, as it is I’d guess from my few sips it’s in the 7-8% neighborhood. Consulting the calendar, I’m thinking of opening around Memorial Day.
Fementables: 9 lbs Munton’s Light Dry Malt Extract, 1 lb Honey, 1 lb CaraMunich III (Crystal 60), 1 lb CaraAmber (Biscuit), 1 lb CaraAroma (Special B). Those last three were steeped.
Hops: 2 oz each of Chinook (60 min), Fuggles (15 min), East Kent Goldings (5 min)
Yeast: Didn’t write it down, it was a Wyeast Activator Pack. Was it American Ale or Belgian Strong?
The Haul: 34 twelve ounce bottles, 6 seventeen(ish) ouncers, 2 twenty-two ouncers (nice even numbers to split between Big C and myself).
