To Be (a jerk) Or Not To Be
I’m pretty sure I just pissed off the director of the English department because I got in her face about whether Shakespeare should be taught in high school or not. Whatever though, I wouldn’t take back anything I said.
She was basically saying it’s too hard for teenagers to understand and there’s better things they could be reading. I think she’s not giving kids enough credit. I know I’m an English grad student but I can’t have been the only one who loved reading Shakespeare back then. What was your experience of ol’ Bill Shakespeare in high school?
