Opentape: just barely not Muxtape
I’m sure that you, like everyone else misses Muxtape, the online mixtape sharing site that has since been shutdown while they “sort out a problem with the RIAA.” Well there’s good news because there is now Opentape, a blantant rip off of Muxtape, at least in it’s layout, which looks almost exactly like dear ol’ muxtape. The main difference between the two is that you have to host the mp3s on your own server, which I suppose makes it a little different for the RIAA. Opentape seem to be pretty up front about their inspiration:
Opentape’s creation and design are proudly inspired by Muxtape’s success and sleek interface. We were sad with it’s untimely shutdown and wanted to let the web mixtape movement continue.
Anywho, when I get the chance I’ll try setting up Opentape on my server, but hopefully muxtape will come back soon.
