I finally got around to uploading a few of the photos I took this past Patriots’ Day/Marathon Monday. The day of the Boston Marathon is always a really unique day when you’re living here, and probably one of the best days of the year to be in Boston. People are in a really celebratory mood, and everyone is so incredibly supportive. A lot of runners will write their names on their jersey or arm and as they run by spectators will cheer them on by name, regardless of whether they actually know them or not. It was a nice feeling to see such a strong sense of community.
It was also a new experience for me in a lot of ways as I now live near the halfway point of the marathon, near Heartbreak Hill, as opposed to the finish of the race near Copley Square, two areas that have very opposing moods.
I also managed to snap picture of Team Hoyt, a father and son team who have run over 25 Boston Marathons with the father Dick pushing his son, Rick who has cerebral palsy, in a wheelchair the whole way.
