White Hinterland- “Dreaming of the Plum Trees”
On Saturday I saw my friend Casey play a show at the MFA with her new band White Hinterland. She was pretty great and so is the song. It’s a good example of how much jazzier and fuller sounding she is then in her earlier solo stuff. Also, I really love that siren-kinda-sounding-thing. I wonder what instrument that is.
On a related note to my previous post about the music industry, when I purchased a copy of their new album Phylactery Factory on vinyl, it came with a coupon to download MP3s of the album free of charge. I have heard of a few record companies doing this, and I totally think it’s the right move to make. I’ve gone for CDs over vinyl many times because I knew I wanted to put it on my iPod or whatever. This offers the best of both worlds, and emphasizes that what you’re really purchasing is the rights to a song, not a physical copy of it.
