Water on the Neck/Pat on the Back

I’ve finally gotten around to releasing my winter mix for this year.  I’m calling it Water on the Neck/Pat on the Back, which is (admittedly) a pretty cryptic reference to last fall, which was tough for me, but it was also when I began working on this. I’d really love it if you downloaded it and gave a listen, and let me know what you thought. I put a lot more time into this mix than most of my previous ones, and it’s a bit of a departure from my usual routine  of “vaguely similar sounding pop songs which remind me of a particular season, painstakingly arranged into a precise order.” The songs are no less painstakingly arranged, but there is a broader range in the genre of songs I’ve chosen, (there are a few noise songs, you have been warned!) and their recording quality varies quite a bit too. I also experimented a bit with editing and remixing the songs. I originally envisioned a Girl Talk-esque mash up of songs and audio clips, but for various reasons (mostly related to my complete lack of  musical talent/producing skills)  I ended up just editing a few songs down and using a few fade-in/fade-outs.  So I guess I’ve taken a few more risks with this one, but I think it pays off pretty well.

I’ve always been surprised by the number* of people that seem to actually download these mixes of mine,  and I’ve been thinking about posting all 20something of the mixes I’ve made over the years, if enough interest was expressed in the idea.   On a related note, you can still download my Summer mix from last year, here.

*that number being somewhere in the 5 to 6 range, I would guess. Staggering, I know

PS- This is my 200th tumblr post. I think that’s pretty good for just 5 months. Woot!
