I spent the afternoon today in Back Bay.
It was wonderful, for number of reasons. For one it was just nice to be someplace that wasn’t my apartment or campus. Beyond that though, it was simply nice to be downtown. I forgot how much I absolutely love urban environments. The tall buildings and gridlike street layouts. The hustle and bustle of people moving to and fro. One of my very favorite things to do is to go and blend in with the crowds, to be an anonymous urbanite. Walking and window shopping and occasionally buying something, but more importantly being amongst hundreds of other people while still being in my own little world. Strangely enough, it makes me feel that much more human. This is what cities are all about for me.
