Richard Tillman, during brother Pat Tillman’s funeral. This was spoken after John McCain made some phoned in comment about Pat being “with God.” Pat Tillman was an atheist and his brother was objecting to the religious hegemony (and political propaganda) taking place. As someone who is a believer I have no problem with the invoking of God during a funeral (I’m sure McCain meant well), but I respect atheism and really respect Richard standing up for his brother’s beliefs. see this for video. |
