The A.V. Club Review - LOST "The End" →
A long, but well-written review of the final episode. I’ve calmed down a bit from my initial WTF? reaction, but I’m still really disappointed in the final scene of the show, and thought it was a really problematic way to end things.

The End
[JACK closes the coffin.]
CHRISTIAN: Hey kiddo.
JACK: Dad?
CHRISTIAN: Hello, Jack.
JACK: I don't understand. You died.
CHRISTIAN: Yeah. Yes I did.
JACK: Then how are you here right now?
CHRISTIAN: How are you here?
[Beat.]
JACK: I died too. [Starts to cry.]
CHRISTIAN [comforting]: It's okay. It's okay. It's okay, son.
[They hug.]
JACK: I love you, Dad.
CHRISTIAN: I love you too, son.
JACK: Are you real?
CHRISTIAN: I sure hope so. Yeah, I'm real. You're real. Everything that's ever happened to you is real. All those people in the church - they're all real, too.
JACK: They're all dead?
CHRISTIAN: Everyone dies sometime, kiddo. Some of them before you, some of them long after you.
JACK: Well why are they all here now?
CHRISTIAN: Well there is no now, here.
JACK: Where are we, Dad?
CHRISTIAN: This is a place that you all made together, so that you all could find one another. The most important part of your life was the time you spent with these people. That's why all of you are here. Nobody does it alone, Jack. You needed all of them, and they needed you.
JACK: For what?
CHRISTIAN: To remember, and let go.
JACK: Kate - she said we were leaving.
CHRISTIAN: Not leaving, no - moving on.
JACK: Where are we goin'?
CHRISTIAN: Let's go find out.

Stream any song from the record, and as new samples are introduced the artist and title pops up in a sidebar. An excellent labor of love. (via)
This is so cool.

Me: I tried to purchase the rights to one of your books but the book I’m after wasn’t in your online database
Customer Service Rep: Okay, what book is it?
Me: TITLE by AUTHOR
Customer Service Rep: Ahh yes, we did publish that book; you should be able to purchase rights to it through our online database.
— I’ve had the conversation more than I’d care to admit. The worst part is that it’s able to loop ad infinitum

Stephen Colbert celebrates American Craft Beer Week.
While we’re not sure about his choice in ‘craft beer’ we appreciate his enthusiasm. They’ll be plenty more celebrating tonight at our meetup in Boston. If you’re around be sure to come join us.
Everyone should come out with us in Harvard Square tonight

Bonkers.
I can appreciate some of the ideas of the libertarian ideology but the part that drives me bonkers is their obsession with “private ownership.” The idea that a business has the ‘right’ to function in any racist, corrupt or harmful way they see fit just because it’s their “private property” is just bonkers to me. A restaurant shouldn’t have the “right” to only serve white people and a hospital...
